Hello! My name is Vivien Berg, and I am a junior in high school. I created SOLace from the ground up as a passion project to help students across the Commonwealth of Virginia study for standardized assessments. SOLace was created with the goal of giving schools and their students a top-notch platform to study for the Virginia Standards of Learning tests, all while remaining open-source and free of cost.
Standards of Learning tests (usually referred to simply as "SOLs") are deployed by the Virginia Department of Education to measure academic achievement of students across the state.
The results of these tests provide helpful insight into how students in different groups are performing relative to the Standards of Learning developed by the state,
identifying ways curriculums and methods of teaching can be improved.
SOLace works to help students harness their greatest potential for high performance on these tests. Because these Standards of Learning are exclusive to Virginia, there are few online resources available for students to prepare themselves for these tests.
SOLace aims to close this gap by offering an interactive, easy-to-use environment for students of all ages to prepare themselves specifically for what they'll be tested on.
Special thanks to the following individuals for assisting with early feedback, testing, or other parts of the development process:
SOLace is committed to being entirely non-profit; this means no ads, no paywalls, and no fees. However, resources such as server space, web domains, and many others used for the site still cost money. Please consider donating to help fray these costs.
