1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using SOLace ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.
2. Description of Service
SOLace is an educational platform that provides test questions and assessments for practice and learning purposes. The Service is designed for students of all ages, including children under 13, and allows users to take tests, track their progress, and review their performance over time. SOLace is committed to providing a safe, educational environment that complies with all applicable children's privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the amended COPPA Rule effective April 22, 2026.
To support ongoing platform improvement and educational research, SOLace collects anonymous, aggregate performance data about test attempts. No personally identifying information is collected at any time. See our Privacy Policy for complete details about what data is collected, how it is used, and how long it is retained.
2.1 COPPA Compliance Statement
SOLace complies with COPPA by not collecting personal information from children under 13. Our educational platform provides full functionality without requiring personal data collection from young users. Parents and educators can confidently allow children to use SOLace for educational purposes knowing their privacy is protected.
3. User Accounts and Age Requirements
SOLace is designed for educational use by students of all ages, including children under 13.
3.1 Users Under 13
For users under the age of 13, SOLace operates in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- No personally identifying information is collected from any users
- No account registration is necessary to access any part of the site
- Anonymous performance data collected from completed tests cannot be linked to individual students, devices, or sessions
3.2 Parental Consent and Supervision
Parents have the right to contact us with questions about our privacy practices concerning children.
3.3 Teacher Accounts
Teachers may register for a password-protected account to access the SOLace class management feature. By registering as a teacher, you agree to the following:
- Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to use a strong, unique password and to enable two-factor authentication if your school or district requires it.
- Authorized use: Teacher accounts may only be used by the registered teacher for managing their own classes. Sharing account credentials with students or other parties is prohibited.
- Accuracy: You agree to provide an accurate email address for account verification and password recovery. SOLace uses your email address only for account-related communications and never for marketing.
3.4 Teacher Responsibilities Regarding Student Data
The SOLace class feature is designed so that student names never reach SOLace servers. If you choose to associate student names with seat tokens using the optional local roster feature, the following terms apply to that locally stored information:
- Local data is your responsibility: Any student name information you enter on your device is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage and in any roster files you export. SOLace has no access to this information and cannot recover it on your behalf. You are solely responsible for the security, confidentiality, and appropriate disposal of this data.
- Compliance with applicable law: You agree to handle locally stored student roster information in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, including FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), COPPA, and any applicable state or local laws governing the handling of student records. This includes limiting access to the device containing roster data, not sharing exported roster files with unauthorized parties, and deleting roster data when it is no longer needed.
- No server transmission: You agree not to modify SOLace in any way that would cause student name data to be transmitted to SOLace servers. The platform is architected to prevent this, but circumventing that architecture would violate these Terms and applicable privacy law.
- SOLace limitation of liability: SOLace is not liable for loss, unauthorized access to, or exposure of student name information stored on your device or in files you have exported. That information never transits our servers, and we have no ability to protect it once it exists on your device. You bear full responsibility for securing it appropriately.
- Data minimization: We encourage you to enter only the minimum name information needed to identify seats in your class context, and to clear local roster data when a class concludes or when a student leaves.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use SOLace only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to solicit others to perform unlawful acts
- Violate any international, federal, provincial, or state regulations, rules, laws, or local ordinances

7. Research Use of Anonymous Data
Anonymous performance data collected through the Service may be used to support peer-reviewed educational research through qualified academic partners. Any such research use takes place under formal data-sharing agreements that limit the scope of use, prohibit re-identification attempts, and prohibit onward disclosure. Because the data contains no personally identifying information and cannot be linked to individual users, research participation requires no consent beyond acceptance of these Terms. Full disclosure of this practice appears in the Privacy Policy, Section 4.3.

11. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall SOLace, nor its directors, partners, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Service.
12. Governing Law
